Established in 1972 as Pusat Bahasa (Language Centre) on the ITM Shah Alam campus, Akademi Pengajian Bahasa (APB) was elevated to full faculty status in 2003 and has since grown into one of UiTM's key academic entities. With over 500 lecturers serving the main campus and branch campuses across Malaysia, APB is dedicated to language education, research, and professional development.
The academy operates through four departments — English Language and Linguistics, Malay Studies, Arabic Studies, and Asian and European Languages — offering programmes in English, Malay, Arabic, Mandarin, French, German, and Thai. APB delivers quality language instruction to students across all faculties, equipping graduates with the linguistic competence needed for academic excellence and global readiness. The academy holds ISO 9001 certification and has produced recipients of the Royal Education Award and Chancellor's Award.
APB-CORES (Centralised Operations & Resource Exchange System) is the academy's digital platform for managing IPA claims, grant applications, MyRA memberships, departmental resources, publications, and internal communications — streamlining administrative processes that were previously handled through scattered manual systems.

Leading scholarship and language excellence through advanced curriculum and impactful research, while professionally managing academic programmes and university-level language courses to produce competitive graduates with global characteristics and ethics.
To make Akademi Pengajian Bahasa a leading global institution in the field of language, continuously improving the effectiveness and efficiency of quality management to become a world-class academy.
APB operates through seven divisions under the Pejabat Jabatan Induk (PJI), each responsible for a distinct area of academic administration and development.
